The Camden, New Jersey, Police Department settled a corruption lawsuit for $3.5 million this week, according to court documents.
The suit was filed by 88 plaintiffs who claimed the city's drug task force fabricated evidence, stole money from suspects, lied in police reports and planted drugs on suspects.
The city's police department reached a settlement this week with 87 of the 88 plaintiffs, but one plaintiff refused to settle. Litigation in that case will move forward, according to the remaining plaintiff's attorney.
A 2009 FBI investigation into the alleged corruption prompted the Camden County Prosecutor's Office to drop charges against over 200 suspects in drug-related cases.
